Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Chair Prof. Şebnem Korur-Fincancı has said that President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks against her "are not on their agenda."
Erdoğan yesterday (October 14) called Korur-Fincancı a "terrorist" without mentioning her name and said that the government would make a new law regarding professional organizations.
When asked by reporters about Erdoğan's words at the funeral of Aydın Medical Chamber Chair Esat Ülkü, who died of Covid-19 on Tuesday (October 13), Korur-Fincancı said: "[Erdoğan's remarks] are not on our agenda. We have lost seven health workers in a week. This is on our agenda."
Giving a speech at the funeral, "Every person who is lost is the loss of the country. We lose one health worker every day because of this outbreak," according to Mesopotamia Agency.
"Why? Because our right to know the truth is taken away from us. We don't know real numbers, we can't prevent people who transmit [the virus] from walking around us because of insufficient testing.
"We have lost a very valuable brother of ours. Not only a physician but also an artist, father, spouse...
"Lives that were built with great devotion and we have this today. His light will illuminate our path."
